If you want to see the most beautiful river in the world, you need to come to Caño Cristales. It's a splendid place with transparent waters where you can practically see a rainbow in the water. This is because colorful aquatic plants grow on its bed, including green, yellow, red, pink, blue, and black. In this river, you can also admire incredible rock formations on its riverbed.
Another place you can't miss is the "Los Ochos" section, small waterfalls of crystal-clear water that flow into natural pools in the rocky riverbed. It's definitely a spectacle. Moreover, in this paradise, you can also experience the famous "llanero sunset," thanks to the majestic view offered by the extensive savannah. This means you will be amazed not only by the colors in the water but also in the sky.
To visit Caño Cristales, you will first need to reach La Macarena, in the Department of Meta. If you're traveling from Bogotá, the flight to this place will take just about an hour.

But if you're truly interested in past civilizations, you can't miss visiting Ciudad Perdida, an impressive construction built in the jungle around the year 800 AD; that is, 600 years before Machu Picchu! This is the most famous city of the Tayrona indigenous people, where you will find a very complex system of constructions, with staircases and paved paths, as well as walls interconnected by terraces and platforms.
